I’m taking on a Wellness Walk for a happier, healthier future for all.

One in 15 of us is now living with diabetes and Diabetes UK is the charity leading the fight against the UK's devastating and fastest-growing health crisis.

By donating to my page, Diabetes UK could fund more research or provide much needed support via their helpline. Together, we can walk towards a world where diabetes can do no harm.

Why I’m Walking: My Diabetes UK Wellness Walk in Glasgow

Sunday 20th Jul

This year, I’ve signed up for the Diabetes UK Wellness Walk in Glasgow, and I want to share why this event means so much to me.

Diabetes isn’t just a word—it’s something that’s deeply personal to me. A close friend lives with diabetes, and their daily courage in managing insulin, counting carbs, and powering through tough days has inspired me. I’ve also seen a few family members navigate this condition, and I know now how much it can impact energy, routines, mental health, and even relationships with food and fitness.

When I saw the Wellness Walk announced in Glasgow, I knew it was the perfect way to show my support—not only for my loved ones, but for the thousands of people living with diabetes nationwide.

For me, walking has become more than just a wellness habit—it’s a statement. It’s a commitment to move more, eat better, and show up for both my own wellbeing and that of others. A few months back, I never imagined I’d sign up for an actual event like this, but here I am, ready to take those steps.

I’m walking for awareness, for research, and for change.

  • For my friend who stays strong even on days when diabetes makes them feel anything but.
  • For my family members whose lives have been reshaped by appointments, tweaks, and treatments.
  • For every child, parent, partner, or grandparent dealing with this invisible yet demanding condition.
