Wellness Walk London Bridges

My Story

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 22 after being sent into hospital in DKA (Diabetic Ketoacidosis). DKA is a life-threatening emergency that happens when a lack of insulin forces the body to break down fat for energy, causing dangerous acids called ketones to build up in the blood. I spent 5 nights in hospital with constant blood tests, finger pricks, insulin injections and IV fluids.

I am doing this walk to raise awareness to those who are unaware of the dangers of diabetes and how they can recognise symptoms. It is so important because just knowing could save a life.

Did you know that someone is diagnosed with diabetes every two minutes?

Please donate today if you can. No matter how much you can give, it will make a difference. Thank you for reading 😊
