Diabetes is not just a medical term in our household; it is a part of our family history. From my grandfather to my sister, I have seen firsthand how this condition shapes lives, tests strength, and requires daily courage. That is why, for the 2026 Diabetes Wellness Walk, I am lacing up my shoes to walk a full 10 miles. Every single step is for them.

A Family Legacy of Resilience

Growing up, I watched my grandfather manage his health with quiet determination. Years later, seeing my sister navigate her own journey with diabetes brought the reality of the condition right to my doorstep. It made me realize how vital research, better care, and ongoing support are for millions of families across the UK. We do not just fight this condition alone—we fight it together.

Taking Action in 2026

Ten miles is a long way, but it is nothing compared to the lifetime marathon that people living with diabetes run every single day. Training for this walk has been a journey of physical and mental wellness for me, but the true fuel is the faces of my family members who inspire me to keep moving forward.
