Wellness Walk London Bridges

I’m taking on a Wellness Walk for a happier, healthier future for all.

One in 15 of us is now living with diabetes and Diabetes UK is the charity leading the fight against the UK's devastating and fastest-growing health crisis.

By donating to my page, Diabetes UK could fund more research or provide much needed support via their helpline. Together, we can walk towards a world where diabetes can do no harm.

As a type 2 diabetic, I am all too well aware of diabetes and the effects it has. Diabetes has also significantly impacted numerous family members.

I am walking to raise money for Diabetes UK to help raise vital funds. I currently have a goal to send my diabetes into remission. I am currently in the pre-diabetic range and I will walk to send my diabetes 5miles further into remission.

Please support me today.

Challenge Completed

Monday 29th Sep
Yesterday, I completed the Wellness Walk 5mile London Bridges Walk.

The challenge itself (pathway walking) wasn’t hard but it was the blisters on the soles of your feet and the stairs that  that final mile feel harder than what it actually is (+also if I didn’t have blisters) - somehow in the final mile I pulled it out me and went for it to crossed that finish line.

I’m proud I’ve done it and I would 100% do it again and again (I’m already looking at prep work for next year) & perhaps next year do it in a team.

Yesterday, was a significant event, it wasn’t just about completing a goal I’d set for a great cause - it was about something deeper. The last 3 blood tests I’ve had done for my diabetes have been have been in the pre-diabetic range, if I continue with a healthy diet & exercise I’m going to break a diverting cycle no one in my family has ever been able to break. Walking meant I was sending my diabetes 5miles further into remission.

Thank you so much to everyone that supported throughout this process - I am truly honoured and grateful.

10/10 would do that challenge again - just give me a wee rest to recover.

Preparations Are Underway - Wellness Walks

Tuesday 23rd Sep

Preparations are well underway, and I have certainly been putting in the steps for this event. Over the weekends I’ve been managing to do a 5mile dog walk. My Dog loved it just as as did I and thankfully it sent them to sleep on their bed afterwards, (it’s mine actually but they own it, I just have the privilege of sleeping on it 😊), (as any dog owner/lover may be familiar with the sentiment) – net one tired and happy dog/owner.

Bring on Sunday when I do the walk for real in London… I cannot wait.

Thank you to everyone that has supported me in this cause - it really means a lot.
