I’m taking on a Wellness Walk for a happier, healthier future for all.
One in 15 of us is now living with diabetes and Diabetes UK is the charity leading the fight against the UK's devastating and fastest-growing health crisis.
By donating to my page, Diabetes UK could fund more research or provide much needed support via their helpline. Together, we can walk towards a world where diabetes can do no harm.

4 days to go...
Wednesday 24th SepI am looking forward to the walk, nervous about the weather as London can be very hit and miss. I will be carrying my jacket, hoodie and definitely planning to have a good breakfast.
Some people may say it's just a walk, ask am I running. And no way I don't run, but I will be brisk walking as fast as possible to keep the heart rate up...challenge my body. And try to beat my time from last year of 3 hours 10 minutes.

Why am I taking part in the 10 mile walk
Tuesday 9th SepLast year I signed up 4 days before the walk, thinking this was a 10k. Crazy I know. Only after starting the walk and working up the courage to talk to other people, I found out I'd actually signed up for a 10-mile walk!!
And oopsie...I was in it for the long run, no giving up now and just determined to complete this.
But why?
I have seen how diabetes affects your daily life, as my mum has type 2. While growing up I have always supported and helped her with cooking or housework. Diabetes isn't just about watching food, it's about moving, bending your knees, strengthening your joints, and so much more. And I believe a big part of staying healthy with diabetes is by staying active every day.
The stronger we are now, the stronger we will remain at 70, 80, 90...
I want to raise awareness about diabetes, and I am walking to encourage EVERYONE to be more active. Whether you go on walks after dinner, do 10 minutes of walking after every meal, or just 50 squats a day.
Staying active is the key to staying healthy and maintaining good long-term health.
Last year I met Hayley and her niece, who signed up for the walk together. Hayley had set us a really good pace, I thought we were brisk walking but it felt like we were sprinting across the bridges of Central London. After sweating, feeling cold and finally forgetting about the distance and how long this is really going to take. We walked across each bridge and completed the walk in 3 hours 10 minutes.
Bring on this year, and let's see if I can beat the time.
