Welcome to my Diabetes UK Wellness Walk fundraising page!

I’m walking for Diabetes UK this September to support the 5.8 million people in the UK who live with diabetes, day in day out. And you can too, just by making a donation.

I have been a type 1 diabetic for over 35 years and it undoubtedly contributed to me requiring a triple heart bypass in 2021.

I have lost over four stone in weight, completed two, one million step challenges, three London Bridges walks and produced a charity Christmas single (another this year) since my recovery. I have raised over £8000 for the charity in the process - thank you to everyone who has supported.

Diabetes UK are on a mission to create a world where diabetes can do no harm by funding vital research into life-changing treatments and providing support to help people to live well with diabetes. But they need our help. No matter how much you can give, it will make a difference.

I have today raised my fundraising goal to £1000 from £500

The generosity already shown of friends, family and business contacts has given me the confidence that I can achieve and exceed this four figure sum

As we rapidly move towards the London Bridges Wellness Walk in September, I have started to step up my fundraising efforts and have been delighted with the response from family, friends and business contacts. Thank you.

I’ve previously mentioned my competitive nature and I had slipped down the fundraising leaderboard as other participants had started to generate growing revenues for their efforts.

Having given a gentle push today, I am delighted to have moved up the leader board again through the generosity of my sponsors.

Of course it’s not actually a competition - it’s about supporting a great cause where the winners are the charity and, ultimately, those that have diabetes and who will benefit from the work they do.

Competitive? Moi?

I am known for being competitive and whilst raising money for Diabetes UK is not a competition as everyone who contributes in any way is a winner in my eyes, I do keep an eye on the league table of fudnraising.

If memory serves, last year on the London Bridges Wellness Walk, I finished second on the fundraising chart (the winner was a duo so could be seen as a team)

As I write I'm currently fifth in the table which means I must try harder and I shall certainly be stepping up my game in the weeks ahead of September 27th.

If you know me - expect to get messaged, nudged and cajoled over the next few weeks - resistance will be futile - my persistence will win the day for the charity!!

Charity Award

Thursday 23rd Jul

Alongside my walking efforts for Diabetes UK, I also produced a Christmas single in 2025 with all monies raised being shared between Diabetes UK and The Propertymark Trust.

I am delighted to announce that I was shortlisted in three categories at the annual Agents Giving Charity Awards -Fundraisng Champion, Social Media Champion and Creative Fundraising Champion.

I won the Creative Fundraising Champion award for my Christmas single and associated campaign.

I have already written and recorded another original Christmas song for 2026 which will be released on 14th November with all revenues going to Diabetes UK and The Propertymark Trust.

In the meantime, back to walking!!

Just a quick note to say thankyou to those that have helped me exceed my initial fundraising target within 24 hours of reaching out about my plans.

Your generosity and speedy action is much appreciated.

I will probably now look to raise the bar in terms of the target for the London Bridges Walk and, with other plans, look to end 2026 with a total of over £10,000 raised in the last four years

I have just signed up to undertake my fourth London Bridges Wellness Walk in September 2026.

Together with my daughter Carrie, I look forward to another excellent day (I have also completed two, one million step challenges) and recorded and released a Christmas single last year with monies raised going to Diabetes UK and The Propertymark Trust.
