My Story
On 14 November 2025, our world turned upside down when we heard those three words: “Type 1 diabetes.” Rubie was diagnosed at just 14 months old after going into severe diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).
Sadly, too many children are diagnosed at the point of DKA because there still isn’t enough awareness and understanding of the signs and symptoms of type 1 diabetes. From that day on, I promised I’d never stop raising awareness for Rubie… so here we go!
We’re taking on the 10-mile Diabetes UK Wellness Walk across London (with Rubie in tow!) to support the 5.8 million people in the UK living with diabetes and to raise money for Diabetes UK. They fund vital research, campaign for better care, and support families like ours navigating life with type 1 diabetes.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help make a difference and move us one step closer to a future where nobody has to live with type 1 diabetes.
