My Story

Hi I’m Evie and I got diagnosed with Type One Diabetes when I was just 3 years old. If you don’t know Type One Diabetes is an auto immune disease where the immune system attacks the pancreas meaning my body doesn’t produce insulin on its own. From my age of 3 it was the norm to inject myself and prick my finger up to 6 times a day until I finally got a Continued Glucose Monitor and an insulin pump 4 years ago. The past 5 years have been great in terms of innovation making the day to day easier to manage in terms of CGMs (which track my blood sugars) and insulin pumps so I’m taking part in the Diabetes UK Wellness walk to help fund continued research so that every diabetic in the UK can live life to the fullest.
