Wellness Walk London Bridges

My Story

Welcome to my Diabetes UK Wellness Walk fundraising page!

I’m walking for Diabetes UK this September to support the 5.8 million people in the UK who live with diabetes, day in day out. And you can too, just by making a donation.

Did you know someone is diagnosed with diabetes every two minutes?

Diabetes UK are on a mission to create a world where diabetes can do no harm by funding vital research into life-changing treatments and providing support to help people to live well with diabetes. But they need our help. No matter how much you can give, it will make a difference.

So please donate today.

3Ts that we missed

Thursday 16th Jul
My daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes aged 8. My world came crashing down and my life altered forever.

We almost lost her because we missed the early signs of Type 1 onset. 3Ts - Toilet, Thirsty and Tired. For weeks leading up to diagnosis she was going to the toilet too frequently even on shorter journeys like school run finding a toilet in emergency became a norm. She was thirsty all the time and woke up several times during the night to have a drink. In the week of her diagnosis she was so tired she slept through the entire long weekend.

We had no idea what was going on. We thought of the worst but never diabetes. This is why we care about diabetes UK raising awareness and want to support this cause generally and specifically Breakthrough T1D.

Please donate whatever you can to support raising awareness of this dreadful condition and give hope to families by contributing to research and development of a cure.
