Wellness Walk London Bridges

My Story

In December 2023, just after Christmas, I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.

At the time, I didn't know much about the condition, and the diagnosis came as a shock. Suddenly, there was a lot to take in and learn, from monitoring my blood glucose levels to understanding insulin and how to manage everyday life with diabetes.

The first few months weren't always easy. There was a lot of information to absorb, and I had to get used to new routines and ways of thinking about my health. Like many people living with Type 1 diabetes, I experienced moments of frustration and uncertainty, but also learned more about myself along the way.

What has made the biggest difference is the support I've received from family, friends, healthcare professionals, and others living with diabetes. Knowing you're not alone and being able to learn from people who understand what you're going through is incredibly valuable.

Taking part in the Diabetes Wellness Walk is my way of giving something back and helping to raise awareness of a condition that affects so many people. It's also a chance to reflect on how far I've come since my diagnosis and to stand alongside others who are on their own diabetes journeys.

While Type 1 diabetes is now part of my life, it doesn't define me. Every day brings something new to learn, and I'm grateful for the support, knowledge, and community that have helped me navigate the journey so far.

Thank you for supporting the Diabetes Wellness Walk and helping to raise awareness for everyone affected by diabetes.
