Wellness Walk London Bridges

My Story

Welcome to my Diabetes UK Wellness Walk fundraising page!

I’m walking for Diabetes UK this September to support the 5.8 million people in the UK who live with diabetes, day in day out. And you can too, just by making a donation.

Ten years ago this November our world took an unexpected right turn when our then 16 year old daughter Jess was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes after being poorly for a few weeks, falling asleep during the day, loosing weight and drinking loads of water. I look back now and wish I had known the signs.

After a very scary week in hospital, she was discharged with needles, injection pens, insulin, blood sugar testing strips, and just got on with it.

We are so incredibly proud of how she has managed this life changing, life long condition that she wont 'get better' from. To celebrate her 10 year anniversary I am joining her team to walk 5 miles across the London bridges. I am also doing this to raise the awareness of Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 diabetes that took my dad from us at only 54.

Diabetes UK are on a mission to create a world where diabetes can do no harm by funding vital research into life-changing treatments and providing support to help people to live well with diabetes. But they need our help. No matter how much you can give, it will make a difference.

So please donate today.
